Boosting Cambodia’s Academic Quality Across Higher Ed Institutions

With the expanding number of private universities in Cambodia, the Royal Government’s Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport is determined to ensure that higher education institutions maintain high standards and excellent results while developing and innovating beyond their existing programmes. The Higher Education Quality and Capacity Improvement Project (HEQCIP) intends to drive these goals, and Svay Rieng University has benefited from its participation in the project.

With financial support from the World Bank, the HEQCIP programme is strengthening the set of standards for tertiary education and ensuring the highest available quality in Cambodia’s top universities.  As one of the participant universities, SRU has earned and maintained its accreditation status from the Accreditation Committee of Cambodia, and enhanced staff capacity to surpass the standards set by MoEYS. In addition, SRU is eligible for grants and technical support through HEQCIP in order to improve its research and teaching capacities, while students gain access to scholarships.
