Foodi (Erasmus+) Project

Upgrading the Quality of Food Science, Health and Innovation in Cambodia

Cambodia already has a solid foundation in agriculture, but the country is on the brink of expanding its own food processing operations to better serve the country’s expanding appetite. Svay Rieng University aspires to educate the students who will lead this industry in the future via participation in FOODI, an Erasmus+ project that helps Southeast Asian universities develop a Master of Science in Food Processing and Innovation degree programme.

SRU staff members involved in the programme will undergo training in order to develop curriculum, via a series of online courses, in-person workshops and knowledge-sharing among a network of Asian and European universities. In addition to accepting a new class of students, the university will develop a FOODI centre, where students can find out more information about the programme as well as local businesses that are employing students in food processing and innovation. SRU also intends to build partnerships with local enterprises in order to place students in internships, in compliance with the programme. Quality assurance is of the highest regard in the food industry, and as such, the programme will establish regular quality checks to propel Cambodia to a higher standard of innovation, cleanliness and health in the industry.

The Master of Science in Food Processing and Innovation programme will begin accepting applicants in 2021 or 2022.
